Annapurna Sanctuary Trek
Scenic Annapurna Sanctuary Trek to the hidden alpine amphitheatre of the Annapurna Base Camp.
The Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is a true classic, amidst some of the highest and most spectacular mountains in the world. The vast amphitheatre of the Annapurna Sanctuary is encircled by famous Himalayan peaks – the ‘Fishtail’ spire of Machapuchare (6993m), Gangapurna (7454m), Annapurna I (8091m), unclimbed Fang (7647m), and Annapurna South (7273m).
Interaction with the local population is an important aspect of this walk, from religious ceremonies to myths, we will attempt to transmit our knowledge of Nepal and try to give you a better understanding of its varied ethnic and religious groups, as many villages are crossed. We can observe and, at times, participate in Nepali daily life.
A photographer’s bonanza, Annapurna Sanctuary trek allows for a huge variety of landscapes, changing almost daily, as we climb steadily higher each day.
The ring of mountains which form the rim of the Annapurna Sanctuary includes no fewer than eight of over 7000 meters, including Annapurna South, Fang, Annapurna 1 (8091 metres), Gangapurna, Annapurna 3 and Annapurna 5. The ring is completed by the peerless Macchapuchare, only 7 metres below the magical 7000 metres. The walk-in to the Sanctuary provides a taste of the great variety of landscape types which serve to make Nepal such a special trekking destination.
