The once in Lifetime Lhasa Kailash is an epic journey that takes you to Lhasa, Shangri-La of Tibet and mythical Mount Kailash (6714m) and Lake Manasarovar. Mount Kailash is located in Western Tibet and is the holiest and sacred destination of spiritual junction for the Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bonpos. For devout pilgrims who visit Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarovar this becomes an ultimate reality of their spiritual ambitions. This trip offers an adventurous traveler another way of life and seeking out the rugged beauty, remoteness and isolation of a trip through the Rook of the World.
We spend time at Shangri-La’s treasure trove of architectural masterpieces – majestic Potala palace, sparkling ancient Barkhor square, the scenic Buddhist monasteries of Drepung, once the largest The Jhokhang temple – a spiritual center, the awesome summer palaces of the Dalai Lama – Norbulinkha and peaceful monk debating in Sera Monastery. We’ll acclimatize the proper amount of time in Lhasa and take on the rough overland driving, trekking and camping, through the remote and wild western Tibet before reaching Mount Kailash. We’ll immerse ourselves in many isolated villages, nomads’ tents with flocks of sheep, domesticated mountain goats and yaks grazing on the plateau. This a journey beyond rural life and deep into a secluded and undeveloped land where the locals have left behind the modern world and the material things they come with it.
Lake Mansarovar is a wide open sparkling blue water sprawling over several miles, believed to be the seat of Brahma (the Creator of Universe) and the snow capped Mount Kailash is considered as the abode of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati. The entire Kailash trek is the holiest of all Tibet’s pilgrimages, an oasis of peace and serenity and the beacon that attracts many travelers to the western Tibet each year. It is said that a single circumference erases the accumulated sins of a lifetime while 108 circumferences achieve the Salvation or Nirvana.
